ABOUT ME

I’m a Nigerian writer living between Lagos and Dubai. I’ve worked across industries; from advertising and entertainment, to policy and development. The golden thread looping my experiences together has always been storytelling. I have found that stories are my north star and as long as I follow their trail, I am able to keep discovering new and exciting ways of serving others with my creativity.

EXPERIENCE

For the past ten years, I’ve worked with major corporate brands, governments and non-profit organisations to powerfully position their stories to drive impact.

In 2018, I was hired as a storyteller by Expo 2020 Dubai to work with several countries to develop their stories and curate their exhibition experiences. Many of these countries had never had to ‘tell their story’ in such a visual way before and I had to find a way to show them the power of storytelling. Through story consultations, research trips and workshops, I was able to extract powerful narratives and work with world class design and build firms to bring them to life. It took almost 5 years and was one of my most rewarding creative experiences till date.

Why? Because stories matter. They define how we see one another. It doesn’t matter if it’s a movie or a country, what matters is the story that’s being told. And like the African proverb goes - “Until the lion tells the story, the hunter will always be the hero”.

In the decade I’ve worked in the creative industry, I’ve worn multiple hats. From starting as an intern news writer at Channels TV, to being a junior copywriter at DDB Lagos, to becoming an award winning screenwriter for two of Nollywood’s most prominent films.

In the past year, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with Global Citizen, one of the world’s largest music festivals, where I serve as a creative consultant and writer. My role involves crafting speeches for world leaders, activists, and celebrities, who use their platform to champion meaningful change. They say the creative path is rarely linear - my law degree and I are living proof.

Having realised this phenomenal power of storytelling, I started Write Good Stories - a storytelling agency and development lab for African writers.
